I take pride in my clothes and believe every detail counts. Right from the start of dreaming up my designs, my team and I work hard to find ways to perfect each aspect of the garment to make it something truly special. I want to give you a peek into my process- from inspiration to the final product. I am so excited to share my journey with you!
Every client and season starts with a spark of inspiration – personal style, trends, special events, holidays, weddings, art, life milestones or a vintage piece can all inspire the idea for a garment. From there, I start my research and pull more inspiration around that idea, all along the way uncovering new elements I can weave into the designs. Being a visual person, I find that mood boards are my best friends, so I like to work closely with my clients to start pinning right away and watch the boards grow and evolve over the course of the design process.
After narrowing our focus, fabrics come first. I feel them, drape them, see how they curve to our bodies. This ensures a figure-flattering fit and wearable design. Then, once I know the fabric quality, I choose the rest of the materials I need to create the garment. I take down my client’s measurements and work closely with my pattern maker to create the blueprint of the garment. I strive to create my own designs so everything is unique, therefore, all of the designs seen are dreamt up right here in my studio. I share every aspect of the design process with my clients, I love the look in their faces once I reveal the final design. Once approved, and I send the designs off to my team for cutting and sewing.
I walk my pattern makers through the details of my vision and let them get to work. All completed in house, the patterns are meticulously measured and draped to match the design. My pattern makers never cease to amaze me with their ability to make even the most intricate, complex designs come to life.
Fitting and Sampling The pattern makers then hand off their work to our sewers and they assemble the first fit sample. We make a few adjustments in our fittings and try it on the client to make sure it complements their body. Then the pattern makers and sewers are able to move onto a final sample. Each pieces varies in intricacy so a sample could move directly into its final stages after the first fit or it could be worked on for weeks until we get the perfect fit!
